When walked in conjunction with the National Trial this makes a grand round walk equal in distance to the entire coast-to-coast trail.     The 20-mile long Moss Troopers’ Trail, a path for fair seasons, strides out into the wilder country immediately north of the Whin Sill, from Carvoran to Newbrough.     By combining several north/ south link routes the visitor may take several short circular walking breaks, or indulge in a more leisurely exploration, not tied to the artificially tight schedule the coast-to-coast march imposes.     Created as a green trail alternative, this guide is a response to the concern that Hadrian¹s Wall Path has two innate flaws. That it concentrates a four-seasons tide of walkers directly upon vulnerable archaeology and that it distances the walking visitor from the depth and diversity of cultural landscapes held within Hadrian¹s Wall Country.
